Today’s featured hairstyle is Chibiusa’s “grownup” hair. We see two different versions of this in the anime. The first is seen when she transforms into Black Lady in episode 85, The Birth of Black Lady, The Queen of Darkness. The second is seen when PallaPalla switches Chibiusa and Usagi’s physical ages in episode 158, The Secret of Pegasus! The Handsome Guardian of the Dream World.

In both instances, Chibiusa’s hair becomes much longer in order to suggest that time has passed (or has been sped up). However, the despite having similar lengths the two hairstyles seem quite different. Black Lady’s hair is thinner and seems to have the texture of Usagi or Neo Queen Serenity’s hair. In contrast, the older Chibiusa from episode 158 has thicker hair that seems to curl more, resembling how her hair sticks out to the sides when she is a child and her hair is shorter.

There might be a reason for the difference in the hairstyles. Black Lady is not necessarily a true image of Chibiusa as she gets older. Rather, she is a distorted image formed in Chibiusa’s childish mind when she grabs hold of the idea that she should be a “proper lady” like her mother, and essentially wishes to take Neo Queen Serenity’s place as ruler. So instead of actually being an older version of Chibiusa, Black Lady is Chibiusa’s mental picture of herself in the place of her mother, and thus is formed in Neo Queen Serenity’s image.

In episode 158, Chibiusa’s “dream” is not to become Usagi, but to be older. PallaPalla perhaps temporarily sped up the aging process in Chibiusa’s body rather than changing her appearance based on her mental image. Thus, we get the thicker hair that looks to match more Chibiusa’s natural hair texture.

OK, so point the first: can we have a thousand fics where Scotty is always threatening to quit and Kirk learned his lesson this first time so new crew members panic hilariously every time it happens in the future but there is never any danger of Kirk accepting Scotty’s resignation ever again? And Scotty can use it on anything—from actual ethical showdowns to “I will not work on a ship that does not have three-ply toilet paper”—and Kirk will never do anything but roll his eyes in the future, maybe splutter a little bit in futile rage. And Scotty will use this in the future—all the fucking time—because Captain Tight Pants Perfect Hair deserves every second of it as far as he’s concerned.

Point the second: how much do we all love that Scotty and Kirk have to negotiate when and how one accepts/offers a resignation but Scotty and his life partner are 100% on the same page on this issue? And the dude doesn’t even, like, argue. He’s just like, “oh, whoops, sorry, is it time for my resignation letter now? Because I have it. It’s right here.” (PS: I am shipping these two SO HARD now. SO. HARD.)

Point the third: I want to see 10000% more instances of the clothes Scotty wears on shore leave. I want to see all the Hawaiian shirts, all the neon ties, everything.

Point the fourth: I want to see Scotty treat his communicator like a phone all the time. I want him to cover the mouthpiece—ineffectively—on away missions and while grumbling about Kirk and while eating dinner and while finishing off an argument with life partner dude about how much Scotch is a wise decision. I have always loved how all the inappropriate phone social conventions turn up with the communicators. I bet Scotty would tots save photos to his communicator and be projecting holographic renderings of his kids to diplomats in his old age as they smile politely and hope desperately that he hasn’t managed to add more memory for more photos on his (spoilers: he has) and that the photo stream will end soon (spoilers: it won’t). I bet he has invented horribly annoying games with lots of loud annoying music to play on his communicator when he’s bored on away missions.

I gave all my stuff to a woman from Craig’s List earlier tonight! She offered $40 for stuff that originally cost me about $112 total but then she could only find $31 before she came over. She was apologetic, but i think that was a pretty good deal for two-year-old Ikea crap that I’m now not going to have to move anywhere, yay. She was really nice, buying stuff for her cousin who is immigrating to the US next month.

now I have to get rid of my bed. does anyone in nyc want a mattress and box spring, full/double size? good quality, guaranteed no bed bugs.

Hi All. I need your help! The organization where I learn Karate, the Center for Anti-Violence, is holding a fundraiser and punch-a-thon where we will preset katas and punch 1000 times in protest of violence and oppression. Every 100 punches will be dedicated to ending a different kind of violence.

CAE teaches women, children, teens, and LGBT individuals verbal and physical strategies to protect themselves and break cycles of violence in their lives and communities. CAE has a bedrock commitment to serving low-income families and offers violence-prevention courses on a sliding fee scale. Courses for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault are free of charge, and free childcare is available at all classes.

CAE has made a huge difference in my life. I’m learning how to be conscious of my needs and desires, how to use my body and also care for it, and I do it in a community of wonderful people who support me. CAE is the only place where I have ever even considered opening up about my experience with rape off the internet. it’s an incredible space.
